"Adrift, A Shift" is the 2023 graduate art exhibition hosted by the Master Institute of Visual Cultures at Willem Twee. This dynamic showcase is the culmination of two years of research-based study, where international artists and designers have explored contemporary issues through diverse approaches, presenting fresh pathways of understanding within the current discourse.

“Adrift, A Shift" showcases diverse artistic visions rooted in meticulous research and theoretical inquiry. Through the pathways of Ecology Futures, Situated Design, and Visual Arts and Post-Contemporary Practice, the exhibition invites dialogue, challenging assumptions and offering fresh perspectives on contemporary issues.

Utilizing a methodology of practice based research, these artists zoom in on pressing issues, offering new perspectives on emerging entanglements of the current time and our histories. By zooming in on specific stories and research questions, these works are the visual and experiential manifestations of the graduates’ theses. The exhibition encompasses various mediums, including lens-based media, installation, sound, sculpture, fibers, and more, ensuring a vibrant and immersive experience for all.

Join us on June 29th, from 14:00 to 18:00, for the public opening reception. It's an opportunity to celebrate the designers’ and artists’ journey and gain insight into their research, inspirations, and creative processes. Following the reception, the exhibition will be open to the public from June 29th to July 6th, allowing you to explore the gallery space at your convenience.
