Audrey Chen

The voice of this Chinese/Taiwanese-North American artist comes not only from her mouth, but from her entire upper body, creating a visceral, ecstatic style of performance. After years of classical and conservatory training, she dove full into sound exploration to create a highly personal narrative. Chen’s work is non-linear, characterized by improvised voiceworks and electronics.

Equilibrium wordt door zowel het publiek als door medespelers met lovende kritieken ontvangen – een ware cult-outfit. Door elementen van jazz, folk, minimalisme en avant-garde muziekstijlen te versmelten, is hun gevoeligheid voor geluid en elkaar buitengewoon, wat resulteert in een betoverende en verfijnde ervaring. Elke muzikant van dit improvisatietrio heeft ook een indrukwekkende carrière, zowel solo als in groepsverband, en als sessiemuzikant met gerenommeerde artiesten. Ze presenteren nieuw werk na een onderbreking van zes jaar.

Equilibrium is held to critical acclaim by the public and fellow players alike–a cult-outfit indeed. By fusing elements of jazz, folk, minimalism, and avant-garde music styles, their sensitivity to sound and one another is remarkable, resulting in spellbinding and gracious experience. Each musician from this improvisation trio has a strong career as well, both solo and in groups, and as session musicians with renowned artists. They present new work after a six year album hiatus.

The Handover

The Handover is een nieuw project van de Egyptische musici Aly Eissa op oud, Ayman Asfour op viool en de Belgisch-Noorse Jonas Cambien op keys. Hun improvisatorische muziek is gebaseerd op Egyptische shaabi en andere traditionele stijlen: een unieke en betoverende mix van viool, synths, percussief orgel en repetitieve oud riffs. Hun over de tijd uitgestrekte muziek heeft een ritualistisch karakter en varieert van serene sferen tot hypnotiserende, dansbare ritmes. 

The Handover is a new project by Egyptian musicians Aly Eissa on oud, Ayman Asfour on violin and the Belgian-Norwegian Jonas Cambien on keys. Their improvisational music takes cues from Egypt’s shaabi and other traditional entrancing sounds: a unique and mesmerizing blend of violin, synth, percussive organ and repetitive oud riffs. Stretching over time, their music has a ritualistic touch to it, moving from serene atmospheres to hypnotic, danceable rhythms.
